This is a pet peeve of mine in my readings on sugar issues. I really don&#039;t think this is an accurate statement! It&#039;s very misleading. While it is technically true that raisins raise your blood sugar the same way as refined sugar, the REAL TRUTH is that raisins will NOT &quot;raise your blood sugar the same way as refined sugar&quot; **IF** eaten in a bowl of porridge! I consider this a crucial distinction.

In other words:
Combining a high GI food (raisins) with a low GI food (porridge) creates a moderate GI meal! Therefore... NO blood sugar spike &amp; subsequent crash.

As the great article you linked too last week on Agave states, it&#039;s important not to overdose on fructose- even naturally occurring fructose. BUT - I do still consider even high-sugar fruits such as oranges &amp; raisins to be part of a healthy diet. &amp; eating them dropped into porridge, particularly when accompanied by eggs, IS a healthy meal.</description>
